Tips for Success
The following are some suggestions that may help you develop your presentation and make your session as engaging as possible:
- Put considerable thought into your main point- what do you hope participants will get out of your sessions?
- Be kind to potential participants- make sure the title and description accurately represent the content of your session. Nothing is more disappointing than going to a workshop that turns out to have little relationship to its write-up.
- “Round-table” and “brainstorm” sessions often lack direction and focus. If you choose such a format, think the issue through and be prepared to direct the flow of the conversation and illicit participation.
- Consider your audience - will your session be appropriate for beginners or professionals?
- Participants are looking for creative, engaging sessions that inspire them to think and to learn.
